Well, after many false starts and problems, we have a live version of the ToD4.0 code, and both this and the test website working (which we're working on integrating into one giant site with the best features of both. We're looking forward to getting feedback on the changes to the engine, and the new website features as and when they're ready to be added.

Work has now commenced on the client for version 4, which will remove the need for users to purchase zMUD in order to get access to the full functionality of the game as well as opening up developent avenues which even zMUD could not offer us - more on this soon!

OK folks, we're currently taking feature requests for 4.0, any ideas you have should be e-mailed to FeatureReq@fox-developments.co.uk any ideas sent anywhere else will be ignored and deleted, as will any non-idea related e-mails sent to this address.
We can't promise that all the ideas will be used, but we'll try our best to do as many as is reasonably possible.

News from the coding bunkers - I've re-commened work on a test version of release 3.5 which, if all goes successfully, will be re-launched and re-branded as version 4 with a mostly new staff team, new areas and many new features.

The "Change Log" link under MUD Functions now works, and displays all recent changes, all new additions will be date-stamped to show when they were added.
Check it from time to time, to see some of the features that are being added for the re-launch.

The development team is currently looking at the potential benefits of an optional custom client to allow us to exert more control over the output of the game, and also to allow for me intuitive forms of input for certain systems, as well as the potential for small scale graphical inclusions such as radar and scanners (currently done via ASCII, but could be done much better if we had client-side rendering abilities).
Your feedback is highly appreciated.

Due to a lack of both staff and players, it is my sad duty to report that the MUD is now officially closed for an indefinite period. Please do not e-mail me personally asking when or if it will be back.
If you have any questions, then you should use the forums to ask them.

Everybody visit http://www.jokerswildmusic.com and take a look and listen, and preferrably support them by getting a copy of their great new album. Just got a copy myself and love it.

Just to remind everybody, we have an IRC channel on the "Undernet" network, #swtod
<p>I encourage you all to make use of it for OOC discussions only, and it also the best place to go when/if the MUD goes down, as it is nearly always staffed by one immortal.

Observant visitors will have noticed that a donations button has been added to the lower left of the screen below the menus. All donations made from there will go towards improving the MUD in some way or another and to improve the overall experience.<P>
An example of funding that I have spent out of my own pockets is to find players who would use zMUD but are unable to either because of the cost or because they lack a credit card, and around once a month I have paid for a license for that player, this has been done entirely at my own expense. I will also be setting up an Amazon Affiliate shop on here as well, and I will add any items requested to that.<p><p>
As always, if you have any feedback, please use the forums to discuss these ideas so that we can improve upon them.
